Public Notice on Waste Disposal and Recycling
JUNK CAR/APPLIANCE & METAL DISPOSAL:
Cars: The junk vehicle disposal fee must be paid at the Borough Offices and all trash and debris must be removed
before Public Works will pick up the vehicle. Do not deliver any vehicles to the Public Works shop.
Appliances & Scrap Metal: Appliances and other large or bulky metal items are to be delivered to the Incinerator
during normal hours of operation only. Do not bring any scrap items to the Public Works shop.
Call Public Works at 983-2449 for specific information.
INCINERATOR HOURS (Located at Mile 6 of the Klondike Highway):
WINTER HOURS: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday at the Incinerator.
SUMMER HOURS: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at the incinerator
RECYCLING: Recyclable items may be deposited in the recycle trailer at the Public Works shop, 580 5th Avenue (corner
of 5th and Alaska).
The only item that is currently recycled at that site is aluminum beverage cans (NO OTHER FORMS OF ALUMINUM).
Glass (BOTTLES AND JARS ONLY, NO WINDOW GLASS) is collected in order to separate it from material burned at the
incinerator. Plastic of any kind and tin cans are NOT recycled at this time.
Electronic Waste is accepted at the Incinerator only; do not place E-waste in with household trash.
Fluorescent Tubes are accepted at the Incinerator.
Old corrugated cardboard is recycled at the Incinerator during normal hours of operation. NO OTHER FORMS OF
PAPER ARE RECYCLED. NO WAXED CARDBOARD.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION: In July of each year there is a household hazardous waste collection
weekend; watch for the flyer in June for additional information.
